KeyWord: workload management, organizational commitment, teachers’ attrition
Abstract: This study explored the relationship between workload management, organizational commitment, and teachers' attrition among public elementary teachers in the four districts of Quezon, Division of Bukidnon, during the academic year 2023-2024. Employing a descriptive correlation research design, the study utilized random sampling to gather data from 300 elementary school teachers. Data analysis indicated that the level of workload management, assessed through administrative, non-teaching, and support activities, was highly observed. A significant positive correlation was found between effective workload management and reduced teacher attrition rates, suggesting that appropriate workload management practices are linked to lower attrition. In terms of organizational commitment, three indicators—affective, continuance, and normative commitment—demonstrated high levels of commitment. The analysis revealed a significant positive relationship between organizational commitment and teachers’ attrition, indicating that higher organizational commitment correlates with reduced attrition rates. Furthermore, teachers’ attrition levels regarding identified causes and challenges were significantly observed. Notably, normative commitment emerged as a significant predictor variable for teachers’ attrition, with a coefficient of determination of 10.7%, highlighting its substantial role in explaining variations in teacher attrition rates. These findings underscore the importance of effective workload management and strong organizational commitment in mitigating teacher attrition, providing essential insights for educational administrators and policymakers aimed at enhancing teacher retention strategies.
