Abstract: |
This research investigates the challenges and triumphs faced by newly appointed first-time teachers, focusing on their experiences during the critical transition from pre-service training to full-time teaching roles. The study employs an interpretive phenomenological approach, collecting qualitative data from nine first-time teachers across various schools to gain deeper insights into their lived experiences. The findings reveal that educators are primarily motivated by a passion for teaching and a desire to make a positive impact. However, they encounter significant challenges, including adjusting to new environments and managing diverse student needs. Strategies employed to overcome these obstacles include seeking support from colleagues, engaging in continuous professional development, and maintaining flexibility in teaching approaches. Recommendations for educational institutions emphasize the establishment of comprehensive mentorship programs, fostering collaborative cultures among teachers, and promoting lifelong learning opportunities. These initiatives are crucial for alleviating feelings of isolation and enhancing job satisfaction among new educators. By addressing both the emotional and practical needs of first-time teachers, schools can empower them to thrive in their roles, ultimately benefiting both educators and their students. The insights gained from this study contribute valuable knowledge to the field of education, highlighting the importance of supporting new teachers in their formative years to improve retention and effectiveness. |
