| Abstract: |
This study examined the levels of artificial intelligence (AI) usage, study habits, and mathematics achievement among second-year Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Mathematics (BSED Math 2) students at Don Carlos Polytechnic College, as well as the relationships among these variables. Using a descriptive-correlational research design, data were gathered from all second-year BSED Mathematics students through adopted questionnaires and their Mathematics General Average.
The findings revealed that the respondents demonstrated a high level of AI usage, indicating strong confidence in using AI tools and recognizing their usefulness and ease of use in learning mathematics. The students also exhibited a high level of study habits, particularly in note taking and time management, while library use was found to be moderate. In terms of academic performance, the respondents achieved a good level of mathematics achievement. The study further found that there was no significant relationship between AI usage and mathematics achievement, and no significant relationship between study habits and mathematics achievement.
These results suggest that although students actively used AI tools and practiced effective study habits, these factors did not directly influence their performance in mathematics. Other factors, such as motivation, prior knowledge, instructional quality, and learning environment, may have a greater impact on academic achievement.
The study recommends that students continue to use AI responsibly as a supplementary learning tool and maintain effective study practices, while educators provide guidance on ethical AI integration and foster balanced, technology-enhanced learning environments. These findings provide valuable insights for improving mathematics instruction and supporting student.
