Abstract: English grammar is considered boring and difficult for students in Vietnam, especially for those who live in mountainous areas. There have been many improvements in English teaching in Vietnam recently but mainly focused on the four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing, while teaching English grammar is still limited. How to use appropriate teaching methods to achieve an educational goal is a wonder because most students learn English grammar by memorizing mechanically. In this article, we would like to mention the effectiveness of using mind maps in teaching English grammar rules. A mind map, found as a powerful brainstorming tool, can be applied effectively in teaching English grammar for the first-year students whose major in Accounting at Thai Nguyen University of Economics and Business Administration. Using mind maps for the first semester, we would recommend that not only teachers but also students can create more effective lessons and students become more active and creative in learning English.
