Abstract: |
Metacognitive strategies are special techniques that help students become more aware of how they think, regulate their own learning and thinking processes, and enhance learning outcomes in mathematics. This study explored how students studying mathematics use strategies, which involve understanding and controlling their thinking processes to improve their learning and problem-solving skills using Moustakas Transcendental Phenomenology approach. The proper application of these strategies can significantly influence students' grasp of ideas and their ability to solve problems effectively. The result revealed six (6) emerging themes : (1) application of problem-solving strategies taught by their teacher as observed through their personal experiences. (2) student’s utilization of simplified formulas and adoption of techniques. (3) student study techniques and utilization of previously learned lessons. (4) student autonomy and collaboration practices on mathematical learning. (5) student’s limitation and coping mechanism on mathematics problem-solving and (6) student’s emotions and cognitive dimension in mathematical learning. Based on the findings, the students develop and create unique strategies and techniques for themselves which leads them to focus more and provide insight to respond in mathematical problem-solving. |
