Abstract: |
The study combines three topics of vital importance to business organizations. It demonstrates the increasing importance of the marketing information system and the essential role that it can play in the company orientation towards the customer. Also, the study adopted product innovation by organizing the sources of ideas and increase the information. The study sought to develop a marketing information system and measure its effect on customer and product innovation, in line with contemporary marketing thought and applications. The data were obtained through questionnaires and interviews in the apparel industry in Iraq. The marketing information system has a direct and positive impact on product innovation and customer orientation. Product innovation has a mediating role in the relationship between the marketing information system and customer orientation. The results indicate that decision-makers should rely on the marketing information system because of cost advantage, reducing effort and time, and preventing public money waste. Among the most prominent results of the study is the weak effectiveness of the marketing information system on providing information, customer orientation, and product innovation. Also, it was determined the absence of an appropriate environment for innovation. |
