| Abstract: |
The ability to communicate effectively in English is increasingly vital for university students in Vietnam amid globalization and labor market demands. However, many students struggle with speaking skills due to traditional grammar-focused teaching methods, limited interaction opportunities, and high anxiety. This study explores the effectiveness of various contemporary approaches- including Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based applications, Augmented Reality (AR), digital storytelling, personalized learning environments (PLEs), and the 4/3/2 fluency technique-implemented across Vietnamese universities. Through a systematic literature review and analysis of empirical case studies, we identify key pedagogical innovations that significantly improve pronunciation, fluency, and learner confidence. Findings suggest that blended approaches combining technology and communicative tasks can enhance engagement and lead to substantial gains in speaking proficiency. Recommendations for practice and policy are also discussed. |
