Abstract: |
As artificial intelligence (AI) becomes increasingly integrated into educational settings, understanding its impact from the perspective of frontline educators is essential.
This qualitative phenomenological study explored the perspectives and lived experiences of elementary teachers from the 2nd Legislative District of the Province of Cotabato regarding the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in teaching.
Using thematic analysis, the study identified the transformative role of AI in enhancing classroom instruction, promoting engagement, and supporting differentiated learning.
Participants revealed that AI tools provide significant advantages, including time-saving automation of routine tasks, data-driven insights for personalized instruction, and dynamic tools that boost student interest.
However, the study also illuminated critical challenges such as limited training, overreliance on AI by students, and concerns related to data privacy and ethical use.
Teachers emphasized the importance of professional development, curriculum alignment, and multilingual capabilities to maximize the educational value of AI technologies. Additionally, they suggested policies focusing on teacher empowerment, strategic monitoring, and balanced AI application that upholds equity and student-centered learning.
The findings affirm that AI has the potential to transform education when implemented with clear pedagogical purpose and ethical consideration.
This study contributes to the growing discourse on AI in education by highlighting grassroots insights from public school teachers and recommending practical strategies and policies for inclusive and effective AI integration in the classroom.
Ultimately, the research advocates for a balanced and responsible use of AI that supports not replaces teachers, ensuring that both learners and educators thrive in an increasingly digital educational environment.
