Abstract: This article aims at investigating the improvement of speaking skill through English extracurricular activities for the first-year students in high quality class at Thai Nguyen University of Economics and Business Administration (TUEBA). It is clear that when learning English, students have to learn four main skills including speaking, listening, reading and writing. At TUEBA, most of the students have been learning English for more than 8 years but they can not speak English fluently. In fact, students in high quality class have a higher level at English than other students in other classes, but not all of them can speak English well because of many reasons. The participants of the study were twenty students of 2023-2024 academic year, who took part in English extracurricular activities at TUEBA. Data collection methods in this study were the observation, documentation and the questionnaire. The results of this study helped the researchers find out the fact that most students strongly agree with the existence of English language using to perform extracurricular activities can support the improvement of their English speaking skill. From the results of the analysis showed that English extracurricular activities brought the improvement of students' English learning achievement. The result of the study is certainly meaningful and useful for not only the students’ learning process but also the teachers in teaching speaking skill for students in high quality class in particular and at TUEBA in general.
