Abstract: This qualitative phenomenological study explored the socio-economic realities faced by rural primary school teachers in Arakan, North Cotabato, and examined how these conditions influenced their professional growth. Employing a qualitative phenomenological design, the research focused on the lived experiences of teachers with at least ten years of service who had not pursued graduate studies. Data were collected using semi-structured interviews and analysed through thematic analysis. Participants revealed multiple challenges including inadequate teaching resources, student poverty, professional isolation, limited access to training, and poor infrastructure. These conditions were found to hinder teachers’ motivation, access to learning opportunities, and long-term career advancement. However, the study identified practical strategies to address these challenges, such as strengthening institutional support, integrating accessible technologies, forming local learning communities, and partnering with universities for tailored professional development. The findings of this study advocate for a more inclusive approach to professional development, one that recognizes the unique challenges faced by rural educators and offers tailored solutions to address their specific needs. This research contributes valuable insights toward designing context-responsive interventions that can empower rural teachers and promote inclusive, equitable quality education in underserved communities. Ultimately, improving the professional development of rural teachers is not just an educational priority, but also a critical factor in ensuring that all students, regardless of their location, receive a high-quality education.
