Abstract: This experimental study evaluated the effectiveness of Terminalia catappa (Talisay) leaves in removing heavy metals (lead, chromium, and cadmium) from the Pulangi River, Valencia City, Bukidnon. Water samples were treated with varying concentrations of Talisay leaf extract, and control samples were collected. Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS) analysis revealed initial concentrations of lead (ND), chromium (<0.06 mg/L), and cadmium (<0.001 mg/L). The study demonstrated the efficacy in reducing heavy metal concentrations: chromium removal reached 66.67% with 5 mL of extract, while cadmium removal was 50% with 5 mL of extract; other concentrations (4mL and 3mL) exhibited proportionally lower removal percentages. Lead remained undetectable throughout all treatment conditions. Visual observations indicated improvements in water clarity and color after treatment, suggesting potential for a cost-effective and eco-friendly remediation method. Further research is recommended, including long-term monitoring and identification of contamination sources.
