Abstract: The purpose of this study is to assess the effectiveness of the PLUMA approach (Creating a title, Generating ideas, Rewriting, Reviewing the written work, and Organizing the Structure) in improving student’s writing skills through their sulating pangwakas. A mixed-method strategy was used to research 34 participants from Bukidnon State University's Grade 10 class. The results showed that the average score increased from 90.647 before the intervention to 93.882 after its implementation. The t-test revealed a significant difference in scores (t(34) = -19.75, p < 0.001), with an eta-squared value of 0.92 indicating a substantial impact of the method on students' ability to rate their writing. Themes emerged from a focus group discussion, including the presence of an obvious framework, improved self-evaluation, and a positive attitude towards writing. Overall, PLUMA has proven to be a successful approach to writing teaching, with the ability to enhance students' academic skills. The study encourages educators to customize and adapt the PLUMA approach to their teaching strategies, thereby broadening its application to new subjects and educational levels.
